Tell the NIH: Women's lives matter!

Shouldn't we know for sure if using Depo Provera increases a women's risk of acquiring HIV if she is exposed?

Currently, we don't know if Depo increases a woman's risk of acquiring HIV, but observational data shows it might. Results are mixed, which suggests that use of injectable hormonal contraceptives could potentially be putting women at higher risk for infection. Over 12 million women in the US have used Depo Provera in the last decade, and we need to know for sure if this is increasing women's HIV risk.

The National Institutes of Health are dragging their feet on funding ECHO, a randomized controlled trial designed to determine if drugs like Depo Provera are putting women at risk. We must urge the NIH to fund this trial:
