Using Social Media as a Tool for Empowerment & Advocacy

In honor of National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day (NWGHAAD), The Well Project presented the webinar, "Using Social Media as a Tool for Empowerment and Advocacy" on March 10, 2015. Topics by our team of experts included how to best use social media in HIV advocacy to:

  • Use your story to break down the significant impact of HIV-related stigma, Michelle Anderson (Community Advisory Board, A Girl Like Me, NWGHAAD Ambassador)
  • Maximize the impact of your message by avoiding stigmatizing language, Vickie Lynn (Community Advisory Board, A Girl Like Me)
  • Most effectively use and navigate major social media tools, including Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube, Maria Mejia (Global Ambassador, Community Advisory Board, A Girl Like Me, NWGHAAD Ambassador)

The webinar was moderated by Executive Director, Krista Martel with a Q&A following the presentations.
