The First of Many

Submitted on Jul 27, 2016 by  Carolina Strong 1

On July 20th, 2016, I had my first meeting with Senator Lindsey Graham's staff. This meeting was to request more funding, so we can end HIV/AIDS here in South Carolina and around the world.

When I say end HIV/AIDS, this is what I'm talking about... Get more funds so we can make sure everyone that is diagnosed can get treatment, because we all know our medicines are NOT CHEAP!!! Getting these funds will help Ryan White Foundation and PEPFAR to be able to continue to help providing services and treatment. That way everyone can get on treatment and stay on treatment that would put us ahead of the virus and slow down new cases or even to where we don't have any new cases at all. * WHICH WOULD BE AWESOME.*

As you all may know if you have read my previous blogs, I'm newly diagnosed myself (11 months). But I refuse to allow this virus to control me. With that being said, this meeting has inspired me so much. I have contacted the TV shows "The Doctors" and "Dr. Oz" to request for them to do whole in-depth shows about HIV/AIDS. Also, I'm currently researching how to get commercials on TV talking about HIV/AIDS like they do for Hep C, Diabetes, and other illnesses. Those are only a few of the many things I would like to do.

I would like to ask all of you that read this to PLEASE REACH OUT TO YOUR LOCAL ELECTED OFFICIALS' AND SENATORS' offices let them hear your voices about needing their help to get more funds to help put aN end to HIV/AIDS and Kick Stigma to the curve.

"Let's Be One Voice and Put an end to HIV/AIDS and Stigma."
