The Value of Community and Advocacy When Parenting with HIV: A Girl Like Me LIVE

Submitted on Aug 2, 2025

"It takes a village to raise a child" is true for parents and having a village can provide critical support for a person navigating a life with HIV.

On Thursday July 31, 2025, we held another powerful episode of A Girl Like Me LIVE and dove into the importance of community for mothers living with HIV as they advocate for their children - and for themselves. Co-hosted by Ciarra "Ci Ci" Covin, Alyssa Crawford, and Heather O'Connor, this episode explored the value of building supportive networks, the role of advocacy in day-to-day life, and much more!

From creating supportive environments for our children to self-care routines that empower us, you're not going to want to miss this conversation with these phenomenal mothers.

This program is supported through grants from Merck and Gilead Sciences.
