The Afiya Center (TAC) was established in response to the increasing disparities between HIV incidences worldwide and the extraordinary prevalence of HIV among Black women and girls in Texas. TAC is unique in that it is the only Reproductive Justice (RJ) organization in North Texas founded and directed by Black women.

The Afiya Center Mission

Transforming the lives, health, and overall wellbeing of Black womxn and girls by providing refuge, education, and resources; we act to ignite the communal voices of Black womxn resulting in our full achievement of reproductive freedom.

Our Work

REPRODUCTIVE JUSTICE: Provide resources to ignite and build a robust Black women-centered Reproductive Justice movement in Texas.

HIV EDUCATION AND PROGRAMS: Offer life-enriching programs that address the socioeconomic disparities among Black women who are at risk or living with HIV.

BIRTH JUSTICE: We work to ensure all Black birthing folx have the right to parent or not parent and to choose when, where and how they want to birth.

DECRIMINALIZATION OF BLACK BODIES: We work to build a grassroots movement in support of our issues, laying the foundation for ongoing policy change at the national and state levels.
