The Black Women's Learning Institute (BWLI) is a national center focused on the health and wellness needs of Black women - especially in the southern United States. BWLI's mission is to improve health outcomes for Black women across the lifespan through programming responsive to their needs and concerns. We focus on three specific age groups: adolescents & emerging adults, women of reproductive age, and women age 50+. We convene Black women, provide safe platforms, and work closely with our regional partners to facilitate critical conversations that provide a deeper understanding of the history and current issues that impact the health and lives of Black women. We recently released the Engage. Empower. Educate. (EEE) report based on our national survey including the voices of over one thousand Black women which can be found on our website. Please also check back soon for our white paper on anti-racist clinical care which was written in response to the findings of the EEE survey. Through translational research, BWLI serves as a vehicle to inform the development of health programs and approaches that respect the experiences and intersecting identities of Black women. Our vision is to achieve health equity for Black women free of implicit and explicit bias.
