Robin Barkins is a New Orleans native who has been thriving with HIV for over 25 years. After surviving homelessness, incarceration, substance use, and street-based sex work, she transformed her lived experience into a lifelong mission of advocacy and healing. In 2021, Robin founded To Restore, Unite, Support, and Transform (TRUST) a Los Angeles based nonprofit dedicated to providing HIV education, testing, harm reduction, and holistic support for women and returning citizens. Through her work, Robin continues to inspire others to live with hope, faith, and courage, proving that recovery and transformation are always possible.
Why Robin wants to be a part of A Girl Like Me: I want to be a part of A Girl Like Me because I want to give hope to the hopeless and be a voice to the women who have not yet found their voice and to let them know that they're not alone.
