My name is Alexandria Hicks, and I am a 35-year-old writer, mother, and advocate from North Carolina. For the past several years, I have been working on my memoir, Just as My Everything Shattered, a deeply personal story about love, loss, motherhood, faith, resilience, and learning to live with HIV.
My journey has not been easy. I have faced heartbreak, divorce, addiction, homelessness, family separation, and an HIV diagnosis that changed the course of my life. Through it all, I found strength in sharing my story and hope in believing that even when everything seems shattered, life is not over.
I write because I know what it feels like to carry shame, fear, and stigma in silence. My goal is to encourage honest conversations, challenge misconceptions about HIV, and help others feel seen, understood, and less alone.
Above all, I am a mother, a survivor, and someone who believes that our hardest chapters do not have to be the end of our story. They can be the beginning of something new.
