I felt like this is something I want to start, as we all have a story. I want to share my story and help others, to speak out and feel free.

So many of us keep closed about so many things such as.

● Anxiety

● Depression

● Gender

● Sexuality

● HIV

● Homelessness

There is much more but help me, help you.

Teach me things and I will teach you a few little things that may help you also.

A little bit about myself.

Hey I'm Jarrod Pitt,

I once lived in Mildura for most of my life, some of you may remember, but for everyone who doesn't this is me. I am Adelaide Based.

I am a very open person, happy to talk about absolutely anything without judgement and everything is kept confidential.

For the last 4 years I have been living with HIV, it hasn't been an easy one for me at such a young age.

I contracted HIV under unfortunate circumstances, but I will always move forward in life. Finding out at 20 years old wasn't the best news I could ask for. But from there on i have matured as a person and now looking to become a better me. I've always wanted a platform to stand on and I guess this is my Platform for life. HIV is not a "Death sentence" as so many people think it is still.

This is not the case at all, HIV is a controlled Virus now days and your life expectancy is no different then anyone else without HIV.

HIV is controlled by medication that is usually taken everyday, the viral load is suppressed to below  <50copies, which is said to be called Undetectable.

That means that you are unable to transmit HIV to anyone else, but regardless of your the amount of copies you have of the HIV virus. You should always keep yourself safe during any sexual activities.

These days there is also medication that others can take who aren't HIV positive, this is called PrEP ( Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis ). With this medication you must see your GP or Doctor about it. This medication allows you to protect yourself during any sexual activities that may go wrong or just as a precaution.

I hope this group can help me grow, but also help so many others in regional towns get a bit more educated on HIV. HIV is what im focused on, as it is one thing so many people question me on as i live with HIV. Always happy to help direct you and fill you in, on anything you may want to know more about.
