Safe Vulnerability

A hard line in sand separating self love from disguises, sold as sparkles and knives.

Presents all pretty dressed up for the show; rattles and sparkles acceptance is blurred, Somber breaths for the hurt of a word.

Standing tall trees seated in Roots; even the branches can't tell each other's truth.

This is deep!

This poem makes me think of a conversation a couple of advocates and I had last weekend. We were talking about how it takes courage to show up in the world with our masks off. It’s extremely hard to find the safe spaces to show up in all your vulnerabilities without people judging you or talking about you behind your back.

It’s rare you run into folks who are not performing or that you don’t have have to perform for.

I love this.
