Key to overall health and wellness is sexual health, wellness and well-being. Though there have been steep declines in HIV transmission, STIs remain on the rise and certain populations remain disproportionately affected - having implications for community sexual health.
Sexual health is also about respect and communication, and interpersonal relationships is key to achieving sexual well-being. In the spirit of sexual health promotion, we have launched the first phase of the Black Hetero-opposite sex (BHOS; pronounced boss) couples study which is a digital intervention to promote overall sexual health.
Why BHOS couples?
Because there is a legacy of policy, practice and structural determinants that uniquely challenge the sexual health and HIV susceptibility among this population. The first phase of this study seeks to engage couples who are self-defined and of all HIV sero status, to lend insight to a Digital Sexual Health intervention designed for them and adapted by them.
