Pride has nothing to do with arrogance, pride is about survival
It's got nothing to do with hate for straight people or creating a rival
It began as a riot against injustice and oppression in New York City
Because oppression against gay and trans people by police wasn't pretty
For no reason at all they were constantly arrested and brutally beaten
Instead of being treated like human beings they were treated as a subhuman cretin
Until a few transgender women got sick of being treated like animals
Or like pedophiles, murderers, rapists, or hungry cannibals
And they finally fought back with bricks to be left the hell alone
Before then the injustice towards gay and trans people was covered up and unknown
But please tell me more about your jealous need for a straight pride
Please tell me how you're beaten or murdered for what you feel inside
Tell me how many countries will kill you just for being who you want to be
How many homes or jobs have you lost for being straight, I'm dying to see
There is a straight pride as straight people are the oppressors of all
It's an endless season called winter, summer, spring and fall
Every day of your miserable life you are far more privileged than I
Yet all you can think about is how desperately you want to make me cry
What's wrong with you, what's wrong in your brain to possess so much hate
For someone you've never met but a relationship you don't want to cultivate
The mental illness here is clearly with straight people, prove me wrong
Gay and trans people have always existed throughout history, we belong
So learn something about pride or go sit down with your stupidity
And don't come back until you've learned something and achieved lucidity
Pride has nothing to do with being proud to be trans or gay
It's about surviving the murderous onslaught of straight people another day
It's about trying to make you aware of hurt and suffering you cause
Yet no matter how many of us brutally die, it doesn't even give you pause
You think we're all just looking for some kind of extra special treatment
While paying no attention to the hell we live through because of your mistreatment
So let me say this once more for all the straight people reading this
We're never going away so I really hate to ruin your bigoted bliss
Celebrate your straight pride, show us all how hatefully demented you really are
But you'll never get rid of us because we're stronger than you by far
Times will always change and I hope you can change how you hate us inside
But just know that your hatred for us is exactly why we need a fucking Pride.
