#10: "Good Morning, World!" by ConnieLJohnson

I've spent the last six years unpacking my past, settling in self and growing in grief. This journey of emotional upheaval has been the most arduous work I've ever done, including teaching high school remedial reading to teen girls from Chicago's south side. Without warning, life demanded that I shake the snowglobe of my inner being and allow the flakes to fall in their proper places. Continue reading...
#9: "Intro – Kimberly June" by Iam_Kimberlyjune

As a Black Trans Woman, I move through the world with unapologetic positivity, authenticity, and queerness. My diagnosis was the catalyst for discovering my strength. Since that pivotal moment, I've embraced a career role as a healthcare professional, advocate, and community leader. I persist in dismantling barriers and am honored to take a seat at numerous tables. Continue reading...
#8: "My True Story" from Healing Hope

Good afternoon. My name is Barbara Elaine Edwards. I am a sixty-eight-year-old African American female. I was diagnosed with HIV on October 16, 1995. At the time of my diagnosis, I was incarcerated at a women's prison. The day I got tested, I wasn't told that I had to take the test. I wanted to take the test because the other women at the clinic were taking the test and I didn't want to feel left out. Continue reading...
#7: "As the Days Go By I Find Love in Myself" by Angel S.

Falling into place
Falling fast speed
Falling leaves allowed to breathe.
They say time heals all wounds.
#6: "Nursing Is Not for the Weak" by Red40something

Nursing is not for the weak, and nursing school is the epitome of that. There are two major things I didn't learn in nursing school. The first is how to be a nurse. You don't actually learn to be a nurse until you are a nurse. Nursing school teaches you how to be safe. Basic stuff like how to take a blood pressure, and the body's physiology. In fact, I learned more about what kind of nurse I didn't want to be while in school. Continue reading...
#5: "Faith, Religion and HIV" by KatieAdsila

This will be one of my hardest blogs I've ever written. I know it's a very delicate subject and I wish no offense to anyone, but my truth is my truth and my views on this subject are not for the faint. So please understand that this is my story alone... I live in a very religious part of the country, the Deep South Bible Belt, Alabama, and I grew up going to church. I of course struggled with my faith and sexual and gender identity, but never gave up on trying to be a good Christian. Continue reading...
#4: "My Breastfeeding Journey!" by AhmazinAshley

Time for an update! I know this update is long overdue but there are not enough hours in a day, especially when you have two kids. So, if you remember my last blog, I shared my pregnancy news and my plans to breastfeed my baby. Well, I breastfed, it didn't last long though, but let's get into this short story... My baby was born November 6, 2023. Breastfeeding in South Florida is NEW! I'm actually one of the first persons living with HIV to do it. Continue reading...

#2: "36 Year Poz Anniversary" by MariaHIVMejia

I feel truly blessed to have made it this far. The start of this year was a very hard year. I lost some friends that I hope to see in the light when my mission is complete, but I am here to continue to show those by example that you can live a long life with this human condition. Continue reading...
#1: "My Never-Ending Battle With the Scale: My Journey to Better Health" by Marig2016

I've struggled with my weight for so long I began to feel defeated. It started taking a huge toll on not just my mental but my physical wellbeing and I knew it was time for drastic measures. While I've struggled with sharing the next part publicly, I'm reminded that people will ALWAYS have an opinion but what makes me special is my ability to be transparent and vulnerable, so here we are and ultimately this decision is for me and no one else. Continue reading...
