My name is Destiny Smith. I am a mother of two, an HIV advocate, a peer navigator, and a woman who has transformed her pain into purpose. I was diagnosed with HIV in December 2017 while pregnant with my daughter. What felt like the worst moment of my life eventually became one of my greatest blessings—because it pushed me into healing, advocacy, and owning my truth.

Why Destiny wants to be part of A Girl Like Me:
I want to create impact. I want young women—especially those who receive their diagnosis at a vulnerable time, just like I did—to know they’re not alone. I’ve walked through the fear, the stigma, the grief, and the uncertainty. Now I stand in confidence, community, and self-love. I believe my voice, my story, and my lived experience can offer comfort, clarity, and strength to others navigating the same journey.
