What Is an Identity Crisis? Part 2

Submitted on Mar 31, 2026 by AhmazinAshley

Alright so Boom! Here we go.

I'm writing this at 1:36am Saturday morning because the only time I can hear my own thoughts is when everyone is sleep, which is the only time it's quiet in here.

First off, if you haven't read part 1, go back to the last year's blog and read it please. Thank you.

It's March 2026. I STILL DON'T KNOW WHO I AM.

Outside of being a mom, a wife, working multiple jobs, advocating, and all the other hats I wear, I don't have a clue. I know am a Child of God. So that's a start.

You're not alone my friend. All of us are dealing with similar issues, but we can't support each other if nobody opens up and talks.

Where would I even start to peel back the layers to uncover what has been hidden for quite some time now? I think we need more conversations on identity after motherhood. It's not talked about enough. We don't have it all together and everyone just keeping it cute and staying on mute. That's not good at all. So here I am (and I don't like people in my business like that, so please know it takes a lot for me be vulnerable in public).

Maybe I'm searching for answers in all the wrong places. Maybe I shouldn't be searching at all. Maybe I just need to look deep within, but how do I do that? Where would I even start? You know, they always say it helps to write it down, so here's a list of what I know I am:

I'm a comedian (stop laughing, I'm serious). I am a corny kind of funny, you know, I laugh so hard at my own jokes, although I'm the only one laughing. You get me? lol

I love Unity and Togetherness. I tear up when I see people come together for a unique cause or just to love on one another.

Transformers is still my favorite movie, and Optimus Prime is my boyfriend, and with the way technology is going, he may end up being my boyfriend in real life, lol!!!!

I like night drives. It's so calming and relaxing, with some nice 90s R&B... But I don't do night drives though, gas too high in South Florida to be burning it unnecessarily.

I write poetry. I created the Poetic Justice Movie, you know the one with Janet! I started writing it when I was 2, because I be killing you softly with my wordsssss. (This is the corny joke I told you about, but it's sooooo funny to me!) but I really do write poetry.

I am very goofy and silly. I make weird noises and sounds just for fun and my kids do it with me. My whole house be sounding like a farm.

I love meeting new people. But just the "meeting" them part. After that, everyone is at a professional arm's length distance. Everyone can't have access to my Gangsta!

Oh and I really like to eat. My algorithm heavily consists of food.

One more thing, I like to put smiles on people's faces. Sometimes I do that by random acts of kindness, gift giving, silly moments, and just blessing them with my beautiful face in their sight or my soft squeaky voice through their phone.

I can add more to the list but you get my drift. I'm still figuring this thing out, and if I can you can too. You're not alone my friend. All of us are dealing with similar issues, but we can't support each other if nobody opens up and talks.

Soooooo, let your guard down a little. Everyone doesn't bite. Mental battles are real and your feelings are valid. Women struggle with identity, self worth, and confidence every day and in different areas of their lives.

But we got it, we still in the game, figuring it out as we go, and holding it down. Now, go buy yourself your own flowers and celebrate ALL YEAR LONG!

Happy Women's History Month!

I'm really learning that there's strength in vulnerability, I'm so used to keep things to myself out of fear of being judged or ridiculed for my flaws. Thank you for Reading! I appreciate you!

You are funny! You are also kind, and loving and have such a light! I appreciate this blog (and the first one too). Truth is, even at 53 I am still discovering who I am. That's because we are constantly growing and evolving and changing. I think when people say they know who they are - its in the moment. That moment may last a year or a month, but it will evolve, even if its only a little, because of life and our relationships will change and evolve. Keep growing and discovering new parts of you and I hope you will keep sharing with us! Love you lil sis!

I been waiting on part 2. We are so similar. I also am a transformers fan. Optimus is my home boy but he has to stop being late to the fight. Thats how I know he is black. Any who lately I have been conflicted career wise and trying to figure out who I am in that space but really need to write down who the fuck I really am. Us momma's have to speak out.

Yes We Do. I've been trying to discover who I am outside of titles. Like, when it all boils down, the thing that matters most is who I am in the core, but understanding that life is constantly changing and evolving, and we have to rediscover ourselves each time. I'm really happy you liked the Blog. We change so much after becoming a mom and I don't think it is talked about enough.
