Hello, my name is Sarah. I was diagnosed with HIV in 1998. I have been living with this diagnosis for 20 plus years and I'm blessed to be here, a healthy mom of four and grandma of four. I was diagnosed when I was pregnant and I'm happy to say none of my children are positive. I'm not ashamed of my diagnosis and more than ever I want to break the stigma that goes with this diagnosis.
I have worn many hats over the years but my favorite, my passion, is advocate.
Why Sarah wants to be part of A Girl Like Me: I want to make an impact in others' lives. I want other girls newly diagnosed to know their life is not over and they do not need to be ashamed. I want woman to know that you don't have to stay in an abusive relationship because you think no one would want you. I want women to know that you can do anything if you put your mind to it; this diagnosis does not define you. Never hold yourself down and never accept less than great because, as I like to say: You are a King's kid. Faith can move mountains and together we can break barriers.
