Below is a list of health and service providers (based primarily in the United States), by specialty, who consider themselves to be knowledgeable and affirming regarding the information, support, and tools necessary to help women and other birthing parents living with HIV make informed infant-feeding decisions for themselves and their babies. We want to include a diverse array of such resources, from healthcare providers to legal services, peer support to lactation consultants, reproductive health and birth justice organizations, and more.

Choosing a method for feeding their babies is one of the most important decisions expectant and new parents make. This decision can be even more complicated when the birthing parent is living with HIV. For those who may want to explore breastfeeding as an option, the information available to birthing parents living with HIV can be confusing – and not enough providers in the US and other resource-rich areas of the world have the information they need to support that decision-making process.

Thankfully, the situation is changing and there are a growing number of providers who can offer the information, services, and support you may seek. We hope to make many of those providers’ information available on this page – so feel free to check the page periodically every few months, and if you are an HIV-affirming provider with infant feeding expertise, fill out this form to add your practice to the list!
