My name is Jonique (John-Neek), I am a single mother of two smart and amazing HIV-negative boys. I was born and raised in New Haven, Connecticut. I work full time at a homeless shelter as a Residential Supervisor.

I was diagnosed on January 8th, 2019 after a tragic car accident. Not everyone was accepting of my diagnosis. Over the two years I have lost a lot of friends, but it allowed me to see who was in my corner and who wasn't. Having HIV to me feels like a rebirth, almost like another chance at life.

Why Jonique wants to be part of A Girl Like Me: I want to tell my story so that maybe It will reach someone that is or once was in my situation. I really just want women, mostly the younger crowd, to know they are not alone.
