I love being a woman! At this age and with all I've lived and learned, I love being a woman more and more! I firmly believe in the power of sisterhood and in building support networks as powerful elements for transforming social and cultural ideas that have caused a lot of harm and that have limited many people. Visibilizing that we're women with HIV is a personal decision! Clearly no one can decide for us! But I am convinced that "coming out of the closet" let's you live your process in a different way, and freeing yourself of baggage that doesn't belong to you results in freedom and strength. We are not more or less because we are seropositive women. Knowing our diagnosis is an immense advantage because we're alive and we have the opportunity to live our lives and get access to treatment. That is a privilege! And that privilege makes us responsible for being a voice and for opening ways for people that for various reasons decide to be, or have to be, silent; and for those that will receive a diagnosis in a not so distant future. That should be our objective!
